Instructional Strategies that Build a Balanced Literacy Classroom

The SIG session will combine exploring the components of Balanced Literacy with strategies that are effectively used in classrooms to create dynamic literacy instruction. The key ingredient s in Balanced Literacy are the use of a combination of instructional approaches and materials designed to meet learners' needs focusing on the use of narrative and informational text aligned to the different content areas. Differentiated instructional materials used in the literacy lessons will be shared.
Journal Under Construction
The e-Journal of Balanced Reading Instruction is currently going through some significant changes. It will be reintroduced under the new title of Journal of Balanced Literacy Research and Instruction. The journal is also in the process of converting to Digital Commons, a web-based platform, that will be manage the submissions of manuscripts, peer review process, revising and editing, and the final publication of issues.
Latest Issue of e-JBRI
Editor Estanislado S. Barrera is pleased to release the latest issue of the e-Journal of Balanced Reading Instruction. This is the Spring/Summer 2015 issue and includes articles on very timely and significant issues related to reading instruction. This issue also includes a review of a professional development book and several newly released children's literature titles.
